Perkins confirmed for Car 51
Greg Murphy has signed Jack Perkins to co drive at the three forthcoming V8 SuperTourer endurance races in the Mike Pero Mortgages-backed M3 Racing Number 51 V8ST Commodore. Perkins steps into the drive in place of Ruapuna sprint round winner Fabien Coulthard, who was originally down to take the drive. Perkins tested the V8 SuperTourer prototype at the Manfeild sprint round. Murphy himself is certain for the Pukekohe and Ruapuna enduro rounds on October 26-28 and November 23-25 respectively but Taupo will still be a challenge as he indicated in an interview with Speedcafe.com this week. "I am actively looking and pursuing other options, in case of the worst case scenario of me not being fit for it," he explained. "The recovery is going well, I have little restriction and I'm able to get up and around, so I'll be there to help the team and try to assist them in any way I can. "It will be massively disappointing if I can't race, but I still have to go by what the doctor says." Further co-driver announcements for the Fathers' Day 400 and the Pukekohe and Ruapuna enduros are expected this week.
